Updated Border Restrictions
At the border checkpoint 'Shehynyi - Medyka' (at the border with Poland), temporary restrictions have been introduced, reports the State Border Guard Service.
If you are planning to travel through this checkpoint, you should know the following:
- On the Polish side - at the 'Medyka' checkpoint, repair work is ongoing, so entry into Poland is allowed only through two lanes until 20:00, which reduces the number of vehicles that pass per hour.
- On the Ukrainian side - at the 'Shehynyi' checkpoint, reconstruction is also underway, which affects the overall capacity due to the dismantling of the old road surface and the implementation of engineering networks.
Border guards recommend considering other routes through less busy checkpoints, such as 'Rava-Ruska', 'Smilnytsia', and 'Nyzankovychy'.
At the 'Solotvyno - Sighetu Marmației' checkpoint (at the border with Romania), the processing of vehicles will be temporarily suspended from Monday to Friday, but pedestrian traffic will operate without restrictions.
'When planning trips, it is important to keep this information in mind. From July 7 to September 3, 2025, repair work and reconstruction of the bridge over the Tisza River will be conducted', border guards emphasize.
Plans for the Future
Future plans include updating 29 border checkpoints and building 17 new ones by 2030. The system 'eQueue', which is already functioning at 28 border checkpoints, is also set to be improved.
The news discusses temporary restrictions at four border checkpoints - two with Poland and two with Romania. Repair works and reconstruction affect the movement of vehicles and capacity, so travelers are advised to consider alternative routes. Plans for Ukraine's expansion and modernization of border checkpoints by 2030 have also been announced.
