Train collision in Slovakia: there are casualties
In the area of the village of Jablunov-nad-Turnou in Slovakia, two high-speed trains collided. According to the information resource 'Glavkom', the incident caused injuries to about 100 passengers, who sustained light injuries.
Two passengers are in critical condition, and three other individuals are trapped in the wreckage. Currently, the condition of the last three injured is unknown. Fortunately, there is no preliminary information about any fatalities.
According to Minister of the Interior Matúš Sutaj Eštok, the cause of the accident was likely human error: one of the drivers did not give way to the other train. 'Right now, I do not want to speculate about the reasons, but according to preliminary information, this was not a systemic error, but a human one. It seems that one of the drivers made a mistake and presumably did not give way to the other train, but this is just a preliminary version,' he explained.
It is worth noting that there was an accident at a railway crossing in the Smolensk region of the Russian Federation, and in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, there was a traffic accident involving injuries after a minibus collided with a car.
