Turkey has detained 18 judges over a football betting scandal

A large-scale operation was conducted in Turkey to detain 18 individuals in connection with the betting scandal in Turkish football. Among those detained are 17 judges and the president of a football club.



According to the Istanbul chief prosecutor's office, the arrested individuals are suspected of abusing their powers and influencing the outcomes of matches. The Turkish Football Federation has identified active bettors among the judges and has already suspended over 100 referees.



In the qualifying matches for the FIFA World Cup, the Ukrainian national team managed to achieve an important victory over Azerbaijan and played a draw with the same team. Unfortunately, the Ukrainian team lost to France with a score of 0:2.



As a result of the large-scale operation in Turkey, 18 individuals have been detained in connection with the football betting scandal. Judges and football officials are suspected of abusing and influencing the outcomes of matches, which indicates serious issues within the management system of Turkish football.
