At the General Conference of UNESCO in Samarkand, a list of significant events for the years 2026-2027 was presented, including the centenary of the National Historical and Cultural Reserve 'Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra' and the 150th anniversary of composer Mykola Leontovych, the author of the song 'Shchedryk'. This was reported by the head of the National Council of Ukraine for Television and Radio Broadcasting, Olha Herasymyuk.
The Ukrainian delegation also proposed to establish a World Science Engagement Day, which will be celebrated annually on November 27. The initiative arose in the Small Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and gained support among the conference participants. Oleksandr Tkachenko, the head of the National Council of Ukraine, emphasized: 'This idea resonated sincerely with delegations from all continents, as science is facing a crisis of trust, and knowledge is becoming a commodity.'
