Mass illness among people's deputies did not become a reason for the actual suspension of the work of the Verkhovna Rada. Problems with voting arose even before the information about the poor health of some parliamentarians appeared and were related to a lack of votes and organizational factors. About the real situation in parliament, told people's deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak in a video on his YouTube channel.

According to him, rumors of 'mass poisoning' or sabotage are not true, and he himself was in the session hall the entire time and feels fine.

Mass illness in the Verkhovna Rada: what is actually known

Zheleznyak noted that there are indeed deputies who had symptoms of acute infection, including high fever and digestive disorders. Based on the nature of the symptoms and test results, it is likely about a rotavirus, not poisoning or intentional actions.

According to him, the infection could have spread through domestic means, particularly through public food establishments. At the same time, there is no confirmation of versions about a special operation or intentional disruption of the parliament's work. The exact number of sick deputies has not been officially recorded.

Work of the Verkhovna Rada: why there were no votes

The people's deputy emphasized that problems with decision-making arose long before reports of illnesses. Throughout the week, the Verkhovna Rada lacked votes even for technical issues, including ratifications.

According to him, the agenda was formed taking into account the absence of some deputies, particularly due to international trips. Therefore, active legislative work was not planned for this week, and the illness merely exacerbated already existing problems. Zheleznyak also emphasized that most colleagues already feel better, and the situation will not affect the further work of the parliament.

Earlier, Yaroslav Zheleznyak assessed the work of the Office of the President of Ukraine after the appointment of Kyrylo Budanov.
