In Vinnytsia, preparations are underway for a large-scale review of transport tariffs in public transport. The executive committee of the city council has published a draft decision that proposes the establishment of a single fare for trams, trolleybuses, and municipal buses. If the document is adopted, the new prices will come into effect as of August 1, 2026. This is evidenced by the draft decision published on the website of the Vinnytsia City Council.
Transport fares in Vinnytsia may rise to 25 hryvnias
According to the document, the cost of a single trip on trams, trolleybuses, and municipal buses is proposed to be set at 25 hryvnias.
Currently, passengers pay 12 hryvnias for a trip on electric transport and 15 hryvnias on buses. Thus, for certain types of transport, the fare may increase by more than twice.
If the new decision is adopted, the current tariff document, which has been in effect since 2021 with subsequent changes, will lose its validity.
How ticket prices may change
The project also provides for a review of the prices for electronic tickets.
For owners of personalized cards, it is proposed to establish the following tariffs:
• 130 trips for adults – 1500 UAH;
• 130 trips for students – 750 UAH;
• 130 trips for schoolchildren – 450 UAH;
• unlimited monthly pass – 2250 UAH.
For non-personalized cards, the prices will be higher. In particular, a package of 130 trips will cost 1725 hryvnias, and an unlimited ticket for 30 days – 2600 hryvnias.
Why it is proposed to increase tariffs in Vinnytsia
The city council explains the need to review tariffs due to the sharp rise in costs related to the operation of public transport.
In recent years, the costs of electricity, diesel fuel, natural gas, spare parts, and other resources necessary for transporting passengers have significantly increased.
The explanatory note states that the economically justified cost of a single trip currently amounts to about 34 hryvnias for trams and trolleybuses and over 41 hryvnias for buses.
The city hall emphasizes that the proposed fare of 25 hryvnias remains lower than the actual cost of transportation and is considered a socially oriented compromise between the needs of the transport company and the possibilities of passengers.
It is worth noting that the number of barrier-free trams has increased in Vinnytsia.
