In Vinnytsia, discussions have started about possible fare increases in public transport as early as the second half of 2026. The municipal enterprise 'Vinnytsia Transport Company' stated that the current tariffs no longer reflect the real costs of passenger transportation and that the enterprise is operating at the edge of its financial capabilities. The 'Vinnytsia Transport Company' reports this.

The cost of trips in Vinnytsia significantly exceeds current tariffs

The enterprise has disclosed the current calculations of costs for transporting one passenger.

According to the company's data, the actual cost of a trip is:

  • 34 UAH for electric transport;

  • 41 UAH for buses.

Thus, each trip in public transport remains subsidized and is partially compensated by the community budget.

The transport company emphasizes that over the past two years, fuel, electricity, spare parts, and repair works have significantly increased in price, which has greatly raised the operator's costs.

The transport enterprise reports a critical funds deficit

The 'Vinnytsia Transport Company' claims that the current financial model no longer allows for stable maintenance of the city's transport system.

'Today we face a critical question: what can be done to ensure that the city transport does not stop this autumn?' - stated the enterprise.

According to the company's representatives, even financial support from the city budget no longer covers the existing deficit, and internal reserves are practically exhausted.

Why is there talk of fare increases in Vinnytsia?

The transport company believes that adjusting the fare is the only way to avoid route reductions, retain staff, and ensure preferential travel for socially vulnerable segments of the population.

They warn that without additional funding, the public transport system may face serious problems in the coming months.

If a decision to review tariffs is made, Vinnytsia could join the ranks of Ukrainian cities with the highest public transport fares.

Recall that from June 10 to July 15, temporary traffic restrictions will be imposed on one of the main streets of the city.
