Rise in Road Accidents Across Vinnytsia Region
A 45-year-old man driving a Ford hit a 10-year-old boy riding an electric scooter on May 3 at around 5:35 PM. The collision occurred on a pedestrian crossing within a shopping center complex on Batozka Street. The child sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment. According to the Main Department of the National Police in Vinnytsia Oblast, the driver was sober at the time of the incident.
Additional Crashes Reported in the Area
Several other traffic accidents have occurred in Vinnytsia Oblast in April 2025. On April 29, three people were injured in a crash in the village of Murafa, Zhmerynskyi district. Blood samples were taken from the driver involved for analysis.
Earlier that same day, in the settlement of Sutyvky, Vinnytsia district, a 17-year-old riding a Geon motorcycle struck an eight-year-old boy on a bicycle at an uncontrolled pedestrian crossing. Additionally, on April 22, in the village of Zoziv, Vinnytsia district, a 17-year-old resident of Mervyn village lost control of his Mustang motorcycle, veered into a ditch, and collided with a tree. He later died in the hospital.
On April 29, in Ladyzhyn, Vinnytsia Oblast, a 15-year-old teenager hit two schoolgirls on an uncontrolled pedestrian crossing, resulting in the hospitalization of a 14-year-old girl. These incidents highlight a troubling increase in road accidents across the region, raising concerns among local residents and law enforcement.
The rising number of road accidents in Vinnytsia Oblast underscores the urgent need for improved safety measures, especially in areas with heavy pedestrian traffic. Authorities and law enforcement agencies should prioritize enhancing road conditions, which includes:
- installing additional signage;
- improving lighting at pedestrian crossings;
- launching awareness campaigns for both drivers and pedestrians.
