Introducing a New Feature in the 'Air Alarm' App
The 'Air Alarm' application now includes a new tool: a map that displays the approximate movement of airborne threats, categorized by type. This enhancement became possible through secure data sharing from the Ukrainian Air Forces. Its primary goal is to help citizens better understand the current situation and respond more effectively during air raid alerts.
The map highlights various types of threats, including:
- cruise missiles
- "Banderoli"
- "Shahed" type drones
Users can zoom in on the map, enable a 10x10 km grid overlay, and activate a "High Danger" heatmap. However, it is important to note that the map does not provide exact coordinates, does not track targets in real time, and excludes ballistic missiles or objects traveling faster than 2,000 km/h. There may be delays in the displayed information, so the absence of markers does not guarantee safety.
All data shown on the map undergoes pre-processing to remove sensitive details. No app update is required to access this new functionality, and the updated map is also available on Ukraine's official air raid alert website. The development of these features is supported by Ukraine's Ministry of Digital Transformation and involves leading tech companies along with IT teams from the Ministry of Defense, the General Staff, and the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Guidelines for Users
Users are encouraged to follow announcements from the Ukrainian Air Forces via Telegram and Viber. When an air raid alert is issued, people should seek shelter immediately and remain there until it is safe. This new map aims to improve public awareness and safety regarding airborne threats.
This update to the 'Air Alarm' app represents a significant advancement in public safety amid ongoing military threats. By providing citizens with timely information, even if not in real time, it supports faster decision-making that can reduce risks during air attacks.
The addition of these features also reflects strong collaboration between government agencies and technology companies, highlighting the growing role of digital solutions in national defense. Involving top IT specialists ensures that these tools are both effective and reliable.
In light of these new features, it is essential for users to stay informed about the latest developments in air threats. The recent launch of a map tracking enemy drone and missile movements further enhances public safety by providing crucial insights that complement the functionalities of the 'Air Alarm' app.
