Ukraine Strikes Russian Base Bars-Sarmat and Helicopters in Coordinated Drone and Naval Attack

Удар по російській базі: дрони та флот об'єднані в потужній операції.

Strike on Russian Special Purpose Center

Operatives from the Reyd unit of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' Unmanned Systems Corps launched an attack on a facility cluster belonging to Russia's Bars-Sarmat Special Purpose Center. This base is situated on the temporarily occupied coast of the Azov Sea in the Zaporizhzhia region. Confirmed targets hit in the operation include:

  • a temporary deployment site for personnel of the Bars-Sarmat special unit;
  • workshops used for assembling unmanned aerial vehicles and ground robotic systems;
  • electronic warfare equipment employed to counter Ukrainian drones.

Russian Helicopters Destroyed

In a separate action, operators from the Unmanned Systems Corps struck Mi-17 and Mi-28 helicopters while they were on the ground in Russia's Voronezh region, undergoing maintenance at the time of the attack. Simultaneously, Ukrainian Navy forces shot down a Russian Ka-27 helicopter over the Black Sea.

According to a statement from the Reyd regiment, 'The strike carried out by Reyd operators will reduce Bars-Sarmat's capabilities in developing technologies that bolster the enemy's army.'

These operations highlight the ongoing efforts of Ukrainian forces to counter Russian military units in temporarily occupied areas. The report was published on April 30, 2026.

This attack underscores the growing effectiveness of Ukraine's unmanned systems in military operations against Russian forces, particularly in occupied territories. Hitting critical assets like drone production facilities and electronic warfare gear can significantly degrade the enemy's operational capabilities. Ukrainian activity in both the air and at sea demonstrates a sustained strategic campaign to regain control over territories and neutralize hostile threats.

The recent strikes on Russian military assets are part of a broader trend involving Ukrainian forces successfully targeting key enemy equipment.
