Chonhar Bridge Strike Halts Traffic to Arabat Spit in Kherson Region

Удар по мосту Чонгар призводить до зупинки руху на Арабатську стрілку в Херсонській області.

Kherson Region Under Pressure

On June 10, authorities in the Kherson region shut down the road from Henichesk to the Arabat Spit following an attempted missile strike on a key bridge. The announcement came from Vladimir Saldo, the occupation-appointed governor of Kherson, as reported by Glavkom. Saldo stated:

“Early this morning, according to preliminary information, the enemy attempted a missile attack on one of the bridges connecting Henichesk to the Arabat Spit.” — Vladimir Saldo

As a result, traffic along that stretch has been temporarily suspended, with officials still assessing the situation.

Power Outages and Wider Fallout

Separately, eight districts in the region lost electricity overnight due to drone strikes. In the early hours of June 9, Ukrainian forces launched another attack on the Chonhar Bridge, completely disabling it.

On the night of June 10, drones targeted the Novokuybyshevsk oil refinery in Russia’s Samara region, as well as the VNIIR-Progress facility in Cheboksary. These incidents unfold against the backdrop of an ongoing conflict that continues to escalate.

The situation in and around the Kherson region remains extremely volatile, with both sides actively striking critical infrastructure. The closure of bridges could severely disrupt logistics and humanitarian aid deliveries, highlighting the strategic importance of controlling transport routes during the war. Meanwhile, attacks on targets inside Russia signal a potential broadening of the conflict’s scope.

As tensions escalate in the region, the recent missile strike on the Chonhar Bridge not only highlights the fragility of the situation but also raises concerns about the potential for further attacks.
