Ukrainian officials have released fresh details of Russian strikes that hammered multiple regions overnight.
Aftermath of Russian attacks in Ukraine
According to President Volodymyr Zelensky, the attack on a shopping centre in Kryvyi Rih has resulted in 16 confirmed deaths and 130 wounded, with 23 children among the casualties. Emergency teams, including personnel from seven areas and canine units, are still digging through the rubble to find people. A blaze that engulfed 9,000 square metres was brought under control.
From evening through the night, various parts of the country faced waves of rockets and drones. In Kyiv, a ballistic missile strike caused damage to railway facilities, resulting in one death and one injury. In Zaporizhzhia, an FPV drone struck a city shuttle minibus, injuring three people.

"Every day Ukraine lacks sufficient air defence, there are casualties that could have been prevented."
Volodymyr Zelensky
Zelensky also called for new supplies of ballistic-missile interceptors and other rockets, stressing that "protecting lives requires daily decisions and real support from the world." He offered condolences to families of the victims and added, "I thank everyone who is helping our people and supporting Ukraine through concrete actions."
The rescue operation continues, and the latest events leave many serious questions about Ukraine's security and defence capacities amid the ongoing war.
These strikes underscore the acute danger Ukraine still faces from Russian aggression. The government is urging international partners to strengthen its air-defence systems, which is seen as vital to reducing civilian casualties and safeguarding critical infrastructure. The continued attacks demonstrate that the conflict remains intense, and Ukraine's need for global assistance is as critical as ever.
The recent attacks highlight the ongoing challenges Ukraine faces in air defense, as evidenced by the fact that during the same night, the country managed to intercept only a fraction of incoming missiles.
