Ukraine has granted Poland permission to conduct archaeological work in the village of Uhly in the Rivne region. The decision to cooperate in the historical field was announced by a Ukrainian official in Poland, Vasyl Bodnar. The Polish side received permission to carry out the work in response to a request from representatives of Karolina Romanowska. The Ukrainian team invited their Polish colleagues to participate in the on-site work.

Readiness for Cooperation

“Ukraine and I personally are ready to cooperate with Polish partners in the historical sphere and conduct exhumations. Only honesty and openness will help us understand the past and achieve mutual understanding.”

The ambassador also expressed hope for an open dialogue on difficult issues of shared history with Polish partners.

Exhumation of UPA Fighters and Finds in Lviv

Recently, a search group from Ukraine began exhuming the remains of UPA fighters in the village of Yurechkova, Poland. These fighters were killed during the conflict with the Polish People's Army in 1947. In Lviv, the remains of Polish soldiers from 1939 have also been found along with military artifacts. The work continues.

Ukraine has confirmed its readiness to cooperate with Poland in search works and exhumations, jointly exploring history and working towards understanding the past.
