Hazardous Weather Alert Issued
The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center has issued a warning for dangerous weather conditions expected from April 23 to 25. Strong winds and frosts are forecast for various regions, with yellow and orange danger levels declared. Such late-spring cold snaps can be particularly disruptive after a period of warming.
Weather Forecast for April 23-25
- April 23: Wind gusts of 15-20 m/s are expected at night in western and northern regions, and across the country during the day. A Level I (yellow) danger warning is in effect.
- April 24: Air frosts of 0-3°C are forecast overnight in the Kyiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Sumy, Poltava, and Kharkiv regions. A Level II (orange) danger warning is declared for this day. In other areas, ground frosts of 0-5°C are possible, under a yellow-level warning.
- April 25: Overnight frosts of 0-3°C are again expected in the Chernihiv, Sumy, Poltava, and Kharkiv regions, with a Level II (orange) warning. In most other areas except the west, ground frosts of 0-5°C are possible, accompanied by a yellow-level warning.
Experts emphasize that these frosts could damage early-blooming fruit trees, raising concerns among farmers. On April 22, solar activity with a K-index of 2.7 is also expected, corresponding to weak magnetic storms.
This weather system could significantly impact the agricultural sector, as early frosts are capable of harming young plants, which would negatively affect crop yields. Farmers are advised to be especially cautious and take measures to protect their crops. It is also important to monitor further forecasts, as changing conditions could lead to additional risks for agriculture and the population in general.
As the cold front approaches, the severe frost warnings for the Kyiv region highlight the potential risks for early crops. These conditions, particularly challenging for farmers, could lead to significant agricultural losses if protective measures are not taken.
