Candidate Unveiled for International Criminal Court Judgeship
Ukraine has formally introduced its nominee for a seat on the International Criminal Court (ICC). The candidate is Lev Kyshakevych, a judge serving on the Grand Chamber of Ukraine's Supreme Court. The event took place at the Hennadii Udovenko Diplomatic Academy and was attended by diplomats who had the opportunity to review his credentials.
Oleksandr Karasevych, State Secretary of Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, addressed the gathering, underscoring the significance of Ukraine’s ratification of the ICC’s Rome Statute amid the ongoing armed aggression by the Russian Federation. According to Karasevych,
“Today, these crimes are not history. Karasevych stressed the importance of striving to restore justice for all victims of international crimes.

The election of ICC judges will take place during the 25th session of the Assembly of States Parties to the Rome Statute, set to be held in New York from December 7 to 17, 2026.
