Agreement between Ukraine and the IMF
Ukraine and the IMF have reached a staff-level agreement on a new support program. The program will cost $8.2 billion over four years. This will facilitate funding for important expenditures, maintain stability, and attract additional support which is critically important for the country going forward. The agreement still requires approval from the IMF Executive Board.
Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced the key aspects of cooperation with the IMF. First, the IMF confirmed the resilience of the Ukrainian economy, which is demonstrating the ability to manage risks and maintain stability. Second, the government has developed the 2026 State Budget in accordance with the new IMF program, focusing on the efficient use of funds. Third, Ukraine continues its reforms, concentrating on macroeconomic stability, debt sustainability, transparency, and strong institutions.
“We are ready to continue implementing measures against the shadow economy, combating corruption, and improving management levels in the public sector. The improvement of corporate governance in state-owned enterprises continues, and the competition for the position of head of customs is ongoing,” emphasized the Prime Minister.
Yulia Svyrydenko expressed gratitude to the IMF team for their support throughout all these years of this important period for Ukraine. She noted that she is looking forward to the program's approval by the IMF Executive Board.
