Ukraine and RTX Forge New Defense Partnership
A new phase of cooperation has been agreed between Ukraine and the American defense company RTX. The agreement, reached during a meeting between Deputy Minister of Defense Serhii Boiev and an RTX delegation led by Raytheon's Executive Director in Ukraine, Jennifer Pushner, focuses on accelerating the delivery of Patriot missile system munitions and establishing repair facilities within Ukraine itself. This move is part of Ukraine's broader strategy to build a more resilient and self-sufficient defense industrial base.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense aims to create a local hub for the maintenance and repair of Western-supplied military equipment. Key elements of the collaboration include:
- Expediting the supply of missiles for Patriot air defense systems;
- Leveraging international support mechanisms;
- Establishing direct contracts between the ministry and the company;
- Optimizing maintenance plans for air and missile defense systems already deployed on the front lines.
"You have seen for yourselves how critical air defense capability is and the pace at which we must operate," noted Serhii Boiev.
These steps are designed to strengthen Ukraine's defensive capabilities amid ongoing security challenges. The agreement marks a significant advancement in Ukraine's military readiness, particularly in countering persistent aerial threats. Successfully implementing in-country repair and maintenance for Western equipment will not only simplify complex logistics chains but also enhance the operational responsiveness of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The involvement of major international partners like RTX underscores continued global support for Ukraine and a shared commitment to security cooperation.
