Ukraine’s Defense Forces Conduct Night Operations
On the night of June 10, Ukraine’s Defense Forces launched significant strikes against facilities tied to Russia’s military-industrial complex and fuel-energy sector. The following targets were hit:
- The VNDIR-Progress plant in Cheboksary
- The Kuibyshev Oil Refinery in Samara Oblast
- The tanker West Horizon in the Black Sea
Additionally, the destruction of an ammunition depot in Velikaya Izhora—attacked on June 6, 2026—has been confirmed.
Details of the Strikes
Specifically, the strike on the VNDIR-Progress plant in Cheboksary, located in the Republic of Chuvashia, was carried out by missile troops and artillery from the Ukrainian Ground Forces. A fire broke out at the facility following the attack. Ukrainian-made FP-5 Flamingo missiles were used in the operation. The distance from the nearest active combat zone in Ukraine to the VNDIR-Progress plant exceeds 900 kilometers.
In Samara Oblast, the Kuibyshev Oil Refinery was also hit, with confirmed damage and a resulting fire at the site. This refinery processes roughly 3.7 million tons of oil annually. Meanwhile, the tanker West Horizon was struck in Black Sea waters, sustaining damage to its propeller and rudder assembly.
As for earlier operations, on June 6, 2026, a strike targeted an arsenal housing missiles, ammunition, and explosives near the town of Velikaya Izhora in Leningrad Oblast. The attack destroyed 18 above-ground storage facilities and three open-air depots, with evidence of secondary ammunition detonations observed.
It is worth noting that on the night of June 10, drones also attacked the Novokuibyshevsk Oil Refinery in Samara Oblast. In 2025, drones struck Russian oil refineries at least 80 times, knocking out roughly 20% of their production capacity. In 2026, at least 12 refineries have been targeted, with five temporarily halting operations.
We continue to enforce Ukrainian long-range sanctions against Russian military sites and the oil industry. Tonight, Ukrainian FP-5 Flamingo missiles hit a military plant in Cheboksary that supplies components for the occupier’s drones and missiles. Thank you to the Armed Forces of Ukraine for their precision! President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky
These latest strikes by Ukraine’s Defense Forces underscore an ongoing strategic campaign to pressure key Russian infrastructure. They highlight the importance of such targets in military conflicts and their role in undermining an adversary’s defense capabilities. The increasing frequency of attacks on Russian oil refineries also signals Ukraine’s intent to reduce the resources available to support Russia’s war effort.
In addition to the recent strikes, Ukrainian forces have also targeted the Tuapse Oil Refinery and the Voronezh Air Base, further intensifying their operations against key Russian military assets. These coordinated attacks highlight the ongoing strategy to disrupt Russia's military capabilities and energy supply.
