Ukraine Restores Substations in Three Weeks: How the Speed of Repairs Has Changed

В Україні протягом трьох тижнів відновили електропідстанції: новий підхід до швидкості ремонту.

Restoration of Ukraine's Energy Infrastructure

Ukraine demonstrates the speed of restoration of its energy infrastructure after shelling, with the average time for restoring damaged substations now three weeks. This is a significant improvement compared to the past, when replacing a transformer at a substation took three months. In comparison, in European Union countries, this process takes four months.

Previously, before 2022, replacing a transformer at a substation took 3 months, while in the EU it takes 4 months, but we have learned to do it within 21 days.

These changes are taking place against the backdrop of a more organized and faster recovery process in rear cities such as Kyiv.

Situation in Frontline Regions

Currently, the most difficult situation is observed in frontline regions, where access problems to facilities are caused by aerial threats. Despite these difficulties, Ukraine continues to actively work on restoring its energy infrastructure, which is critical for ensuring stability in energy supply in the country.

The restoration of energy infrastructure in Ukraine is an important step not only for the stability of energy supply but also for supporting economic activities amid the war. The reduction in the time required to restore substations indicates increased efficiency and adaptation to new challenges arising from military actions. Continuing these efforts will allow Ukraine to maintain and improve energy security, which is crucial given the current situation in the country.
