Draw Set for Billie Jean King Cup Finals

The draw for the Billie Jean King Cup Finals will take place on June 11, 2026, in Shenzhen, China, where the Ukrainian national team will enter as a seeded squad. This marks Ukraine's second-ever appearance in the final tournament, and they will face one of four opponents in the quarterfinals: Belgium, Kazakhstan, the Czech Republic, or China.

Final Stage of the Billie Jean King Cup

The Billie Jean King Cup Finals are scheduled from September 22 to 27, 2026. According to the updated tournament rankings, Ukraine has jumped five spots to claim third place—a historic high for the team. Currently, Italy holds the top position, followed by Great Britain in second.

During the qualifying rounds, Ukraine delivered an outstanding performance by defeating Poland and winning all four matches. In singles play, Elina Svitolina, Marta Kostyuk, and Oleksandra Oliynykova secured victories, while Nadiia and Lyudmyla Kichenok triumphed in doubles.

The top 10 of the Billie Jean King Cup rankings are as follows:

  • 1. Italy - 1252.5 points
  • 2. Great Britain - 1178.75 (+1 position)
  • 3. Ukraine - 1066.25 (+5)
  • 4. Spain - 1061.25 (+1)
  • 5. Czech Republic - 1037.5 (+1)
  • 6. United States - 1021.25 (-4)
  • 7. Kazakhstan - 988.75 (+2)
  • 8. Canada - 921.25 (-4)
  • 9. Poland - 887.5 (-2)
  • 10. Japan - 868.75

Notably, Poland—a rival of Ukraine—remains in the top 10 but dropped two spots and now sits in ninth. The biggest declines in the top 10 belong to the United States and Canada, both of which failed to advance through qualifying and fell four positions each.

This achievement by the Ukrainian team highlights significant progress in the development of women's tennis in the country.

The rise in rankings and the status as a seeded team in the Billie Jean King Cup Finals underscore Ukraine's growing competitiveness on the international stage. Reaching the quarterfinals opens up new opportunities for the squad and inspires young athletes to pursue greater heights in the sport.
