The President's Commissioner for Sanctions Policy Vladyslav Vlasyuk spoke out against the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes in international competitions. He emphasized that such participation could create a false impression of the situation between the states. Vlasyuk added that all measures have already been taken to prevent athletes from these countries from participating in international competitions.
Ukraine's sports diplomacy is actively working on this issue, collaborating with international sports federations and supporting the position of Ukrainian athletes. Vlasyuk also noted that discussions about the participation of Russians and Belarusians in sports are taking place at the political level and can influence the sanctions applied in this area.
Our sports diplomacy is led by the Ministry of Sports, and the same happens at the levels of various federations and associations. It is very helpful when our 'star' athletes also express their position
Vlasyuk emphasized that sanctions in sports are of great importance as they can even affect player transfers in football. This indicates the seriousness of the issue and its importance for the entire sports sector.
Ukraine opposes the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes in international competitions, actively conducts sports diplomacy, and supports sanctions in sports to prevent a false perception of the situation between the states.
