Grain and oilseed harvest forecast in Ukraine for 2025
The Ukrainian Grain Association forecasts a record harvest of grains and oilseeds in 2025 at the level of 81.4 million tons. This indicates an increase compared to 2024, when the harvest was 79 million tons. It is important to note that the realization of this forecast depends on solving logistical problems that may affect exports.
Potential exports and forecasted indicators
The potential export of grains in 2025 may reach 49 million tons, which is a significant figure. In the last season, exports amounted to 46.7 million tons. Among the components of the forecasted harvest:
- The wheat harvest in 2025 is expected to be around 22.5 million tons (slightly exceeding the 2024 harvest of 22.4 million tons). The potential export of wheat in the 2025/2026 marketing season may amount to 16.5 million tons.
- The corn harvest in 2025 is forecasted at 32 million tons (exceeding the 2024 figure of 25.9 million tons). The potential corn export may be 25 million tons.
- The barley harvest in 2025 is projected to be 4.9 million tons (in 2024 it was 5.6 million tons). The likely barley export is around 2.3 million tons.
Among other oilseeds:
- The sunflower harvest in 2025 is expected to be 11.5 million tons (less than in 2024 - 12.8 million tons).
- The rapeseed harvest in 2025 will amount to 3.2 million tons (in 2024 it was 3.8 million tons). The potential export of rapeseed may reach 2.1 million tons.
- The soybean harvest is projected to be around 5 million tons (a decrease compared to 6.8 million tons in 2024). The potential soybean export may amount to 2.5 million tons.
It is also worth noting that the potential harvest for 2026 may reach 84.5 million tons, with a possible export of around 50 million tons. Thus, the Ukrainian agricultural sector has opportunities for further growth, but it is necessary to address existing logistical problems.
Forecasts for the harvest and export of grains and oilseeds in Ukraine indicate positive trends in the agricultural sector, which may have a significant impact on the country's economy.
