Ukrainians who were stuck at the border of Georgia with Russia have ended their hunger strike. According to a statement from the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, the situation with the Ukrainians who were trapped at the 'Darial' checkpoint has been resolved. A representative of the Ukrainian embassy in Georgia visited the checkpoint to meet the Ukrainians and explain the measures being taken to protect their rights.

Three Ukrainians received medical assistance, and an agreement was reached with the Georgian side to further ensure emergency medical aid for Ukrainian citizens. Diplomats maintain constant communication with representatives of the Ukrainians and are working on their return home.

“The Foreign Ministry reiterates its appeal to the Russian side, voiced by Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha, to send deported Ukrainian citizens directly to the border of Ukraine with the Russian Federation or Belarus. Ukraine is ready to meet them,” the statement said.

We remind you that five citizens of Ukraine who were in the basement of the 'Darial' checkpoint declared an indefinite hunger strike at the border between Georgia and Russia due to the intensification of deportations by the Russian side, which led to a worsening humanitarian situation at the 'Darial' checkpoint.

The recorded end of the hunger strike by Ukrainians at the border of Georgia with Russia is an important step in addressing the humanitarian crisis that has arisen at the 'Darial' checkpoint. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry continues to take measures to return Ukrainians home and ensure their rights in such situations.
