Is this for cattle? Ukrainians were shown a typical house in the USA

The construction process and materials surprised many

In an article by Radio Trek, Ukrainian immigrant Ivan Zubarev, who lives in Seattle, demonstrates the construction process of typical American houses. According to Zubarev, 99% of houses in Washington state are built using frame technology with wooden beams, plywood or OSB panels, mineral wool, and drywall. This type of construction is faster and cheaper compared to brick.

Ivan Zubarev notes:

'Look, this way 99% of houses are built, at least in Washington.' Ivan Zubarev

According to him, boards with a width of 5.5 inches (approximately 14 cm) and a thickness of 1.5 inches (approximately 3.8 cm) are used in the frame. Outside, the frame is covered with thick plywood or OSB panels, and the gaps between the boards are filled with mineral wool. Inside, houses are finished with drywall. It is also noted that such houses are built not only in the USA but also in Canada, where the climate is colder.

The video demonstrating the construction process has garnered tens of thousands of likes, and comments from Ukrainian users mostly contain criticism of the reliability of such houses. Some of the expressed opinions include:

  • One commentator noted: 'I wouldn't live in one like that.'
  • Another remarked that 'couldn't entire towns for displaced people be built in 4.5 years using this principle?'
  • Some comments express doubts about reliability, such as 'to rob a house, all you need is a jigsaw.'

Thus, the construction of frame houses has sparked lively discussion among Ukrainian users who compare it with traditional construction methods in Ukraine.

The discussion of frame houses in the USA reflects not only cultural differences in construction approaches but also Ukrainians' attitudes toward new technologies. In Ukraine, traditional methods like brick construction are often considered more reliable, so comparisons with the American model raise interest and caution. This indicates the need for greater understanding and exchange of experience between countries in the field of architecture and construction.
