Ukrainian Drone Attacks on Russian Facilities
On the night of June 14, Ukrainian drones struck targets in Russia's Yaroslavl, Tula, and Smolensk regions. These operations mark a continued pattern of long-range strikes aimed at disrupting Russian infrastructure. The primary targets included:
- The Temp industrial complex in Rybinsk;
- The Azot chemical plant in Novomoskovsk;
- A traction substation in Vyazma.
Fires broke out at all three locations as a result of the attacks, according to local reports.
The most significant hit was at the Temp complex in Rybinsk, Yaroslavl Region. This facility, which falls under the Russian State Reserves Agency (Rosrezerv), lies roughly 700 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. Notably, the Temp complex had previously been targeted by drone strikes in late 2025. In response to the incident, Yaroslavl Governor Mikhail Yevrayev ordered traffic restrictions on roads leading toward Moscow.
Additional Targets Hit
The second target was the Azot chemical plant in Novomoskovsk, Tula Region, located about 350 kilometers from the border. Satellite data from NASA FIRMS detected a thermal signature at one of the plant's main processing units. Tula Governor Dmitry Milyayev reported that drone debris fell onto the grounds of an industrial enterprise in Novomoskovsk.
Separately, a fire erupted in Vyazma, Smolensk Region, near a railway depot. According to OSINT analysts, the blaze affected the Vyazma traction electrical substation, which powers railway lines in the area. These events underscore the growing reach of Ukrainian drone operations into central Russia.
Attacks on strategic assets within Russia may signal a shift in Ukrainian tactics aimed at destabilizing the adversary's logistics and industrial base. Such actions carry both military and psychological weight, increasing pressure on the Russian government and military command. They also have the potential to shape public opinion in Russia, as strikes occur hundreds of kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
The recent drone strikes in Russia highlight a broader strategy aimed at crippling the adversary's supply chains and infrastructure. This tactic mirrors the situation in occupied southern Ukraine, where Ukrainian drones have effectively imposed a logistics lockdown on critical transport routes. Such developments indicate a significant evolution in Ukraine's operational approach, focusing on long-term disruption of enemy logistics.
