As a result of yesterday's strike by Ukrainian drones on the Izhevsk 'Kupol' plant, four workshops for the production of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were damaged, causing the plant's operations to come to a complete halt. This information is reported by the Telegram channel ASTRA, citing sources in the region's emergency services.
According to the publication, the strike resulted in damage to the first building where drones are manufactured. One drone flew into the window of workshop 106, the second struck the roof of workshop 110 and exploded, causing the roof to collapse over an area of 1300 square meters due to the fire.
Workshops involved in metal processing, chip soldering, and finished UAV production were damaged. The production area operated around the clock in three shifts. As a result of the strike, three workers of 'Kupol' were killed, and another 45 people were injured, 35 of whom were hospitalized. The General Staff of the Ukrainian Navy confirmed precise hits by the drones in building No. 1 at site No. 1, where the fire occurred.
The scale of destruction confirmed by satellite images
Satellite images from Planet Labs confirm the scale of the damage - part of the roof of one of the military plant's buildings was completely destroyed. The distance from Ukraine to this target is over 1300 kilometers.
The 'Kupol' plant is included in the sanctions lists of the European Union, the USA, Canada, Ukraine, and Switzerland. It is one of the largest enterprises of Russia's defense industry, established in 1957. The plant produces the Tor-M2E anti-aircraft missile system, training complexes 'Saman-M1' and 'Adjutant'. Following the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in July 2023, the plant began producing 'Garpia-A1' drones using parts from China.
After the strike by Ukrainian drones on the Izhevsk 'Kupol' plant, the plant's operation was completely halted, several workshops were damaged, workers were killed, and a significant number of people were injured. Satellite images confirmed the scale of destruction at the site. The plant was included in the sanctions lists of several countries and is one of the key enterprises of the Russian defense industry.
