Ukrainian ice dancers Zoie Larson and Andrii Kapran have qualified for the free dance at the 2026 European Championships in Sheffield. Their score of 59.24 points earned them 20th place, securing Ukraine's ninth consecutive appearance in the final round of this prestigious continental event. Ice dance, a discipline combining technical skill and artistic expression, is a highlight of the figure skating program.

The pair's total score was built from several key components:

  • Their technical elements score was 31.99 points;
  • The step sequence contributed 8.41 points;
  • A level four rotational lift added 6.20 points;
  • The choreographic sliding sequence brought in 3.71 points.

The competition was extremely tight, with a Swiss pair finishing just 0.12 points behind the Ukrainian duo.

Leaders Emerge in the Continental Championship

The current leaders, Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron, delivered a commanding performance with a score of 86.93 points. The decisive free dance final is scheduled for January 17th at 20:30 Kyiv time. In the men's competition, another Ukrainian skater, Kyrylo Marsak, also competed, earning a score of 76.92 points. His performance featured a triple Lutz-triple toe loop combination valued at 11.62 points, a quadruple Salchow worth 10.25 points, and a triple Axel that received a Grade of Execution (GOE) bonus of +1.94.

This championship marks a significant milestone for Ukrainian figure skating, as extending their final-round streak underscores the nation's growing stability and competitive level in the sport.
