Ukrainian Aerials Team Triumphs at European Cup

Ukraine's freestyle skiing aerials team has claimed a total of three medals at a European Cup stage held in Airolo, Switzerland, on March 7-8, 2026. Athletes Diana Yablonska, Nelli Popovych, and Oksana Yatsiuk represented Ukraine at the event. Oksana Yatsiuk delivered a particularly impressive performance, securing first place on the first day's final with a score of 78.75 points for her bFF (back Full Full) jump, which had a difficulty rating of 3.150. This victory highlights the technical skill and high-level training of the Ukrainian squad.

  • Roman Bondarchuk, who also competed, earned a second-place finish on the first day's final, scoring 99.45 points for his highly difficult bdFdF (back-Double Full-Double Full) jump with a 3.900 difficulty rating.

While the Ukrainian team did not reach the podium at the 2026 Winter Games, they placed within the top ten on eight occasions, indicating a solid foundation and promising prospects for future competitions. Other notable finishes at this European Cup included the mixed aerials team placing sixth, along with several other Ukrainian athletes finishing in the top ten across various disciplines.

Future Outlook for Ukrainian Athletes

Consequently, the Swiss European Cup stage served as a significant milestone for the Ukrainian aerial skiers, demonstrating their expertise and readiness for upcoming challenges. The sport of freestyle skiing aerials involves performing complex acrobatic maneuvers off large jumps, requiring immense precision and courage.

The results from this European Cup underscore the determination and advanced training of Ukraine's freestyle skiers, laying a foundation for potential success in future events. Despite the Olympic medal drought, these achievements at the continental level emphasize the athletes' potential as they continue to compete actively on the world stage, which should positively influence their motivation and preparation for the next major tournaments.
