Strikes on strategic facilities in Russia
The Defense Forces of Ukraine have carried out strikes on strategic facilities in the Russian Federation, including an oil refinery, gas terminal, and oil depot. The strike on the Tuapse Oil Refinery occurred on the night of December 31. The Tuapse refinery has a processing capacity of about 12 million tons per year. As a result of the attack, the primary oil processing unit ELOU-AVT-12 was affected, as well as the deep processing facilities, which could significantly impact the production capacity of the enterprise.
Additionally, two berths at the 'Tamanneftegas' terminal were hit, which may lead to delays in the transportation of petroleum products. In Rybinsk, the federal state-owned institution 'Temp' was affected, where a large fire is observed. This damage may also affect the overall situation in the oil and gas infrastructure of Russia.
Impact on military facilities
The strikes also affected other military facilities: a temporary base for riverboats near Olenivka in occupied Crimea was attacked as well. Moreover, ammunition depots in the areas of the settlements Blizhne and Siyatel in Donetsk region were hit. These strikes indicate a targeted strategy by Ukrainian forces aimed at reducing the military and economic capabilities of the adversary.
These events indicate an intensification of military actions by Ukraine, which may be part of a broader strategy to weaken the Russian infrastructure that supports military operations.
Strikes on key oil and gas complex facilities could significantly affect the economic stability of Russia, as well as its ability to meet military needs. Such attacks could change the balance of power in the region and influence the further development of the conflict.
