Drone Procurement via Brave1 Market

Ukraine's armed forces have placed orders for 240,000 drones over the past six months through the Brave1 Market platform. Launched in August 2023, the marketplace has proven highly effective, with more than half of these systems—over 160,000 drones and other weapons—already delivered to the front lines. The average delivery time from order to frontline receipt is just 10 days, a critical pace for a military engaged in active combat.

Brave1 Market allows service members to exchange combat points, earned for destroying enemy targets, for unmanned aerial vehicles and other weaponry. Mykhailo Fedorov highlighted that troops are actively using this system, which enables rapid technological resupply directly to the battlefield.

'The formula is straightforward: troops destroy the enemy – the state pays – technology reaches the front quickly,' emphasized Mykhailo Fedorov.

In addition to drones, combat points can be redeemed for over 400 Ukrainian-made defense items, including:

  • drones
  • electronic warfare (EW) systems
  • ground robotic complexes
  • components and spare parts

However, as Yegor Sobolev noted, many of the drones currently in use have not yet been certified by the Ministry of Defense. The rapid pace of innovation in drone technology makes centralized procurement through traditional channels difficult. This reality underscores the vital role Brave1 Market plays in equipping Ukrainian forces with cutting-edge tools.

A New Vision for Military Logistics

In response to the Ukrainian military's growing demand for modern technology, Brave1 Market represents a novel approach to army supply. This system of using combat points to acquire equipment allows for agile adaptation to frontline developments, a crucial capability during intense fighting.

Given the swift delivery rates for drones and other assets, this marketplace could become a cornerstone of military logistics. The issue of certifying new technologies remains important, however, as it directly impacts operational safety and battlefield effectiveness.
