Cancellation of emergency electricity outages
Ukrenergo has canceled emergency electricity outages; instead, hourly outage schedules will be implemented from November 21 due to the consequences of Russian attacks on the energy infrastructure. The outages, which will be in effect from 00:00 to 23:59, are a response to the significant decrease in energy generation that occurred as a result of shelling.
Emergency outages were canceled on November 20. According to the new schedules, the volume of outages will range from 2.5 to 4 shifts, and the duration of outages may vary from 4 to over 12 hours a day. These measures are being implemented in conditions of electricity shortages, which may last until spring 2026.
Situation in the energy sector
Since the beginning of October, Russia has launched more than 150 missiles and over 2,000 drones at the Ukrainian energy system, resulting in almost one-fifth of the energy generation planned for the heating season being destroyed. Currently, 12 regions of Ukraine already have a shortage of electricity, highlighting the seriousness of the situation in the country's energy sector.
The cancellation of emergency outages and the introduction of hourly schedules indicate the adaptation of the energy system to the new conditions caused by military actions.
In the context of prolonged electricity shortages, Ukrainian energy is trying to maintain the stability of supply, which is critically important for sustaining the livelihoods of the population and the economy. The continuation of attacks on energy infrastructure indicates the need to strengthen protection and modernize the energy system to ensure its reliability in the future.
