The situation with energy supply in Ukraine
The transmission system operator NEC 'Ukrenergo' reported the consequences of drone strikes on energy facilities in Ukraine, as well as the increase in electricity consumption due to cold weather. As of the morning of December 15, instances of power outages have been recorded in the Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions of Ukraine. The situation is particularly complicated in Odesa region, where massive attacks on energy infrastructure occurred on the night of December 13.
According to 'Ukrenergo', on December 15, as of 9:30 AM, the level of electricity consumption was 7.1% higher than at the same time the previous working day. This figure indicates a significant increase in demand for electricity under cold weather conditions. Additionally, on December 14, the daily peak electricity consumption was 12.6% higher than the peak of the previous Sunday, December 7.
Call for energy conservation
In light of these circumstances, the company 'Ukrenergo' urges the population to conserve electricity. The increase in consumption and strikes on energy facilities require a responsible approach to electricity usage in Ukraine.
These events highlight the importance of stability in the energy infrastructure amid military actions and seasonal temperature fluctuations. The growing electricity consumption, especially in winter, can lead to additional burdens on an already affected infrastructure, which, in turn, may exacerbate the energy supply issue in the country.
'Ukrenergo's call for the economical use of electricity is relevant, as consumers must be aware of their role in ensuring the stability of the energy system.'
