Extra Services to the Carpathian Mountains
In response to surging travel demand, Ukrainian Railways has scheduled two additional trains to the Carpathians for the weekend of June 12–15. Specifically, Train No. 251/252 will run on the Kyiv–Rakhiv–Kyiv route, while Train No. 277/278 will operate on the Kyiv–Mukachevo–Kyiv line. Departures from Kyiv are set for June 12 and 14, with return trips scheduled for June 13 and 15.
Updated Summer Timetable
Additionally, Ukrainian Railways has announced a revised summer timetable effective June 28. This coincides with the company entering its peak period of 2026, when ticket inquiries hit 340,000 daily. The operator currently transports an average of 80,000 passengers per day, and the ratio of demand to available seats is expected to climb from four to between six and seven applicants per seat.
'We were able to schedule these extra runs thanks to the rapid redeployment of rolling stock and the use of cars recently overhauled at Ukrainian Railways’ own facilities,' the company’s press service stated.
The railway also emphasized the importance of advance planning for smooth travel. 'The earlier you decide to go and start monitoring tickets, the better your chances of buying them. Ticket sales open 20 days before the departure date,' Ukrainian Railways added.
These developments highlight Ukrainian Railways’ efforts to meet rising summer travel demand, especially for popular tourist destinations like the Carpathians. Given the high demand, passengers are strongly advised to plan their trips well in advance to secure tickets. The addition of extra services and the timetable update underscore the company’s readiness to adapt to shifting consumer needs.
In addition to the new services to the Carpathians, Ukrainian Railways is enhancing its network to accommodate increasing travel needs across the country. For instance, the recent launch of the first high-speed train connecting major cities like Dnipro and Odesa exemplifies the company's commitment to improving rail connectivity. This expansion aims to provide passengers with more efficient travel options as the summer season approaches.
