Ukrainian Railways Staff Recognized for Heroism

Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia) has received official recognition from Ukraine's Ministry for Communities and Territories Development for the professional actions of its staff during an attack on a passenger train. On January 27, a Russian kamikaze drone struck a train traveling the Barvinkove–Lviv–Chop route in the Kharkiv region. Thanks to the crew's swift response, the train was stopped, its carriages moved to a safe location, and all passengers were successfully evacuated, resulting in no casualties.

Awards and Financial Support Announced

Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities and Territories Development, Oleksiy Kubra, alongside Deputy Minister Oleksiy Balesta and Ukrzaliznytsia Board Chairman Oleksandr Pertsovsky, presented awards to the employees involved in dealing with the attack's aftermath. In a significant move to support these workers, Ukrzaliznytsia has instituted a monthly supplemental payment of 20,000 hryvnias for staff clearing the consequences of Russian attacks, which will continue until the end of the current heating season. This financial measure highlights the ongoing dangers faced by critical infrastructure workers during the war. The recognition and new payments are crucial steps in supporting personnel who work under extreme conditions to ensure passenger safety, serving to bolster morale and motivation during emergencies.
