Chicken prices in Ukraine may rise by 15-20% by the end of the year. The executive director of the 'Union of Poultry Breeders of Ukraine' Serhiy Karpenko explained that the reason is the use of alternative energy sources. This increases the cost of production for chicken and increases the risk of loss of bird stock due to possible disruptions in the systems.
'The inability to produce compound feed threatens the imminent loss of bird stock,' Karpenko noted.
The problem is particularly acute in compound feed enterprises, where the lack of stable electricity complicates feed production, threatening the quality and safety of poultry farming. This may also lead to a reduction in production volumes, which will affect exports and tax revenues.
'Constant power outages are a threat to the poultry industry and the food security of the state,' emphasized Karpenko.
According to the expert, a decrease in production in the long term may lead to further price increases for poultry products.
Thus, problems with electricity in the Ukrainian poultry industry may lead to rising chicken prices for consumers, threatening the quality and safety of poultry farming and the export opportunities for the country.
