Vsevolod Chekh Joins Monza's Youth Squad

At just 16 years old, Ukrainian goalkeeper Vsevolod Chekh has inked a three-year deal with Italian side Monza, where he will feature for the youth team. Chekh, who has lived in Italy for an extended period, previously developed through the youth systems of Juventus and Torino. Over the last six months, he played for Novara's U-17 team, despite being a year younger than his teammates. During that time, he grew 15 centimeters and now stands 180 cm tall.

Ukrainian Players Making Strides Across Europe

Last summer, several Italian clubs showed interest in Chekh, including Empoli, Sampdoria, and Palermo, but the goalkeeper ultimately chose Monza. Notably, Chekh has not been called up to Ukraine's youth national team, yet he continues to progress steadily in European football. This move highlights the growing trend of Ukrainian talents seeking opportunities abroad.

In other news, former Ukraine national team defender Dmytro Chygrynskiy, now 39, has taken over as head coach of Cypriot club Krasava on a one-season contract. Chygrynskiy is well known in Ukraine for his stints at Shakhtar Donetsk, Barcelona, and other clubs. He previously served as an assistant coach at Greek side Aris.

  • Krasava competes in Cyprus's top division.
  • The club features two Ukrainian players: goalkeeper Yuriy Avramenko and defensive midfielder Dmytro Melnychenko.

Chygrynskiy ended his playing career in early 2025.

These developments underscore the active international presence of Ukrainian footballers. By signing with Monza, Vsevolod Chekh continues his journey in Italian football, a move that could prove pivotal for his growth. Meanwhile, Dmytro Chygrynskiy's transition into coaching demonstrates how former players can successfully channel their experience into new roles, potentially benefiting Ukrainian players in Cyprus as well.

As Vsevolod Chekh embarks on his journey with Monza, the rise of Ukrainian football talents abroad continues to gain momentum. In a related development, Dmytro Chygrynskiy's recent appointment as head coach in Cyprus highlights the increasing international presence of Ukrainian players and coaches, showcasing their adaptability and ambition on the global stage.
