Boosting Support for Ukraine’s Frontline Communities

Ukraine’s government and parliament are stepping up efforts to assist communities near the front lines. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko recently met with lawmakers to discuss aid for war-affected areas. Notably, 86% of communities impacted by the conflict have already been added to the official list of frontline territories. This highlights the need for joint action to strengthen national resilience and support local residents.

Grants and Assistance Programs

A range of grants has been introduced under the support program. These include:

  • grants for starting a business—up to 500,000 UAH;
  • grants for production equipment—up to 8 million UAH;
  • grants for recovery—up to 16 million UAH.

Additionally, farmers operating near combat zones will receive a 40% compensation on the cost of Ukrainian agricultural machinery. Affected businesses can also get partial reimbursement for wages and the single social contribution.

Furthermore, 90 applications from companies seeking compensation for destroyed or damaged property have been approved, totaling 1.5 billion UAH. A war risk insurance program has also been launched, offering coverage of up to 30 million UAH.

Yulia Svyrydenko stated: 'The government’s priority is to create conditions that allow businesses and people to stay and work in their communities.'

She added that supporting frontline communities is a shared responsibility of the government and parliament to preserve jobs and sustain life in Ukrainian towns and cities.

These measures underscore the Ukrainian government’s commitment to maintaining economic stability in war-torn regions—a critical goal amid the ongoing conflict. By backing businesses and rebuilding infrastructure, these efforts aim not only to revive the economy but also to improve the quality of life for local residents, marking a vital step toward full post-war recovery.
