New Rules Make Government Support Easier to Access
Starting now, families with children and expectant parents in Ukraine can receive state support payments directly through a special Diia Card account. The Cabinet of Ministers has streamlined the process, removing time limits on how long funds can be used and expanding the list of eligible spending categories. This change aims to make financial aid more flexible and user-friendly for households.
Payments will be consolidated into a single account for various assistance types, including:
- Compensation for the Baby Box program,
- Childcare allowance for children up to one year old,
- eYasla (electronic nursery) support,
- School Student Package.
Applicants can open a dedicated Diia Card account in their chosen bank's app before submitting their request. When someone applies for childcare allowance for a child under one year or eYasla, the Ministry of Social Policy's system will automatically retrieve an existing Diia Card special account. If no such account has been opened, the system generates a QR code for quick setup.
Updated Payment Procedures for State Benefits
Those who prefer to receive funds through Oschadbank can continue using the existing process. Importantly, accounts opened from January 1, 2026, remain valid. On that same date, Ukraine introduces a new payment structure for childbirth assistance: mothers who give birth after January 1, 2026, will receive a one-time payment of 50,000 hryvnias instead of the previous staggered installments.
It should also be noted that some mothers did not receive the 7,000 hryvnia childbirth payment due to a technical error. The issue has been resolved, and the funds have been transferred to banks for crediting to parents' accounts.
“Payments under state programs supporting families with children can now be received via a special Diia Card account. The list of available payment categories has also been expanded, and there are no longer any restrictions on how long the funds can be used.”

By simplifying the payment mechanism, the government hopes to make financial support more accessible and convenient for Ukrainian families. Innovations like automatic account linking and QR codes for fast Diia Card registration could significantly cut down the time needed to apply for aid. This may also boost overall social support levels in the country by easing access to material assistance for newborns and their parents.
As the new Diia Card system enhances accessibility to child benefits, it's essential to stay informed about ongoing changes in government support. Recently, the number of families receiving child allowances reached 170,000, reflecting the government's commitment to improving financial assistance for households. Understanding these updates can help families better navigate their support options.
