The government of Ukraine has decided to avoid a sharp increase in electricity transmission tariffs. This is important for all consumers, as it affects the overall costs of electricity. This was reported by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
The mechanism for purchasing electricity has been changed to balance the technological losses of 'Ukrenergo'. Now the operator can buy electricity not only at variable prices but also at special auctions for more predictable and even lower prices.
“We have made changes to the way 'Ukrenergo' purchases electricity to compensate for technological losses. Now, the operator can buy it not only where prices change rapidly but also at special auctions — for more predictable and often lower prices,” explained Yulia Svyrydenko.
For consumers, including industry, this means slower growth of electricity transmission tariffs and more predictable costs. This is especially important for enterprises that export their products, as it contributes to the stability of their operations and helps maintain jobs.
The government has decided to reduce the impact of rising electricity transmission tariffs on businesses and consumers by changing the electricity purchase mechanism to compensate for the technological losses of 'Ukrenergo'. This will help maintain stability in the sector and help retain jobs, especially in export-oriented enterprises.
