Electricity Price Freeze Extended Through 2026 by Ukrainian Government

Кабінет Міністрів України продовжив дію обмеження тарифів на електроенергію до 2026 року.

Household Electricity Rates in Ukraine

Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers has locked in the current electricity price for households until October 31, 2026. The base rate remains at 4.32 hryvnias per kilowatt-hour. First Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko confirmed that Ukrainians will not face any price hikes in the coming months, providing some financial predictability during ongoing economic challenges.

Dual-Zone Meters and Discounts

To help cut costs, consumers can install a dual-zone meter, which effectively halves the rate during off-peak hours. The nighttime tariff applies from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM and is set at 2.16 hryvnias per kilowatt-hour. However, for households using electric heating, these discounts are temporarily suspended from June 1 through September 30. During this period, they will be charged the standard rate of 4.32 hryvnias.

Starting October 1, the reduced rate returns for electric heating users: they will pay 2.64 hryvnias per kilowatt-hour, provided their monthly consumption does not exceed 2,000 kilowatt-hours. Any electricity used beyond that threshold will be billed at the full price.

Freezing electricity tariffs is a key measure to support the population amid economic instability. Keeping power prices at 4.32 hryvnias allows Ukrainians to plan their energy expenses over the next few years.

The introduction of dual-zone meters could also encourage consumers to save electricity by taking advantage of lower nighttime rates.

As the government locks in electricity prices, many households may wonder how these changes will affect their overall energy costs in the long run.
