Public Event at VDNG

On May 21, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, an open event focused on employment for people aged 50 and older will be held at Pavilion No. 4 (first floor) of the VDNG exhibition center, as part of the Career Festival. The gathering will spotlight the government's 'Experience Matters' program, designed to reintegrate older workers into the workforce.

Event Themes and Agenda

Discussions will cover re-employment strategies for the 50+ demographic, state support mechanisms, and how employers and HR teams can leverage a new model for recruiting seasoned professionals. The schedule includes a presentation of the 'Experience Matters' initiative, a brief conversation with an individual over 50 sharing their real-world job search journey, and a panel discussion featuring experts, business leaders, and civil society representatives.

Confirmed participants include:

  • Daria Marchak, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine;
  • Ella Libanova, Director of the M. V. Ptukha Institute of Demography and Life Quality Studies, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine;
  • Tetiana Lomakina, Advisor to the President of Ukraine on Barrier-Free Access;
  • Tina Nikolova, Head and Co-founder of the 'Zhyttyelyub' Charitable Foundation;
  • Natalia Levkivska, Manager of CSR Projects at Astarta.

The target audience includes individuals aged 50 and over, employers, HR professionals, recruiters, and anyone involved in employment and inclusive labor market issues. The 'Experience Matters' project aims to foster a culture of adult hiring in Ukraine, combat age-related biases, and support the active professional participation of older people in the job market. Project partners include the Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine, the State Employment Service, the agro-industrial holding Astarta-Kyiv, the 'Zhyttyelyub' Charitable Foundation, and the Federation of Employers of Ukraine.

This event, centered on employment for people aged 50 and older, represents a significant step toward promoting inclusivity in the labor market. The 'Experience Matters' program not only helps bring experienced workers back into the workforce but also establishes new approaches to age-related employment, potentially shaping economic conditions and social structures in Ukraine. The active involvement of government bodies and business representatives underscores the growing attention to senior employment issues in the country.

In addition to the upcoming event at VDNG, the government has also launched a new internship program aimed at supporting Ukrainians aged 50 and above. This initiative is designed to enhance employment opportunities for older individuals, providing them with valuable work experience and skills development.
