New Support Programs for Citizens and Businesses This Winter

To help its people and economy cope with harsh winter conditions, the Ukrainian government has launched new assistance initiatives. These programs are designed to provide critical aid, including support for purchasing generators and fuel, as well as financial assistance for private entrepreneurs (FOPs) and small businesses. The 'Winter Support' program has already reached 17.8 million citizens.

On its first day of operation, the program for generator and fuel purchases received 4,000 applications. Furthermore, starting February 2nd, businesses can access a government energy support package, which offers 0% loans for buying generators. Within the first day of the 'Energy Aid for FOPs' program, 2,700 applications were submitted, with over 9,000 more currently being processed. Individual entrepreneurs can receive payments of up to 15,000 hryvnias.

Aid for the Most Vulnerable Populations

Other active programs include support for the most vulnerable social groups, through which 374,000 Ukrainians have received aid payments of 6,500 hryvnias each. In the coming days, at least 30,000 'warmth packages' will also be distributed in the hardest-hit regions.

Additionally, Ukrainians have booked over 170,000 free tickets under the '3000 km Across Ukraine' program, enabling travel covering a total distance of approximately 80 million kilometers. As President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted, all these measures aim to support citizens and businesses through a difficult winter season. These initiatives are part of a broader effort to mitigate the impact of Russia's war on Ukraine's energy infrastructure and economy.

The launch of these programs is a direct response to the growing needs of the population and businesses amid an energy crisis exacerbated by external factors. The government seeks to provide stability and support, particularly for the most vulnerable segments of society, which could positively influence the country's social situation. Initiatives like generator loans and financial aid for entrepreneurs may prove crucial for preserving jobs and sustaining economic activity in Ukraine.
