Shooting in the Albanian Court of Appeals


A tragedy occurred in the Albanian Court of Appeals - during a court session in the capital, Tirana, a shooting took place, resulting in the death of a judge and two others injured. The incident happened on October 6, according to The Guardian.



According to police, the tragedy occurred during a hearings on a property dispute. Judge Astrit Kalaja, who was presiding over the session, was seriously injured and was urgently taken to the hospital but died on the way.


Two other participants in the process, a father and son, also sustained injuries as a result of the shooting. All the injured were hospitalized, and their condition is assessed as stable. The police arrested the shooter, who attempted to flee the scene.



Reactions from the Prime Minister and President of Albania


The Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, considers this incident to be tragic and calls for severe penalties for crimes related to weapons. The President of the country, Bajram Begaj, also condemned the attack, calling it a horrific assault on the justice system.


Such events are not isolated incidents - another shooting occurred in Montgomery, Alabama, where two people were killed and another 12 were injured. These horrific events present a challenge for strengthening security and revising weapon legislation in various countries around the world.


As a result of the shooting in the Albanian Court of Appeals, a judge was killed, and two others were injured. The Prime Minister and the President of the country condemned this horrific act of violence and called for strict measures against criminals committing crimes with weapons.
