Starting from July 1, residents of Izmail will pay more for trips on public transport. The fare will increase by 25%, while the preferential rate for students will remain unchanged. Transport operators explain the price adjustment by the rising costs of fuel and increased operational expenses. This is reported by Suspilne citing the president of the Odessa Association of Transport Workers, Lyudmila Staneva.
The fare in Izmail will increase from July 1, 2026
From July 1, one trip on the city public transport in Izmail will cost 25 hryvnias instead of the current 20 hryvnias. Meanwhile, for students, the fare will remain at 10 hryvnias.
Students will be able to use the preferential fare with a student ticket or an electronic certificate «Mriya-ID». According to the transport operators, this category of passengers will continue to benefit from the unchanged fare for the entire year.
The president of the Odessa Association of Transport Workers, Lyudmila Staneva, explained that the main reason for the increase was the rising cost of fuel, which has been going on since March.
«Even with a fuel price fixed at 60 hryvnias, the actual cost of the fare ranges from 33 to 40 hryvnias, depending on the passenger flow of a specific route,» she noted.
Why transport operators call the new tariff insufficient
According to Lyudmila Staneva, the cost of transportation has also been affected by the rising prices of spare parts, increases in the minimum wage, rising electricity tariffs, and the annual increase in the non-taxable minimum considered when calculating labor costs.
Despite the new increase, transport operators believe the fare is economically unjustifiably low. According to their calculations, if we consider the fuel price to be around 70 hryvnias per liter, the economically justified fare should be at least 35 hryvnias per trip.
