The State Emergency Service expressed regret over the incident at the Main Police Headquarters in Poland.
As a result of the explosion of the gift presented during the visit to Ukraine, the Chief of Police, Yaroslav Shimchik, was injured, according to the press service of the Emergency Service.
'Exclusively out of goodwill and deep gratitude, a symbolic gift related to the resistance of the Ukrainian people against the Russian aggressor was presented to Yaroslav Shimchik. We are convinced that there was no intention to harm the Chief of Police of Poland,' the statement said.

The Emergency Service also expressed hope that the incident would not negatively impact the high level of cooperation between law enforcement agencies of Ukraine and Poland.
'We highly appreciate the consistent support and assistance that the Polish police provide to Ukraine and the citizens of Ukraine who have found temporary refuge in Poland from the Russian aggressor,' the agency added.
On December 14, a gift for the police chief exploded in Poland.
It was handed over to him by one of the leaders of the Ukrainian services.
An employee of the Main Police Directorate sustained minor injuries.
