The Ministry of Health of Ukraine is implementing a new model for training reserve officers of the medical service. A meeting recently took place to discuss modern approaches to such training.
One of the key points is the establishment of training standards for students of medical and pharmaceutical specialties. There are also plans to adapt the program to NATO standards, properly distribute the educational workload, and fund the training, including for contract students.
'The launch of the training is planned for 2026 in higher education institutions of all forms of ownership. It is important to form a clear vision for training now: which specialties to attract, what volume of training to provide, how to distribute educational topics and hours,' said Minister of Health Viktor Lyashko.
Priority measures are planned for the launch of the new program in 2026, including checking the readiness of existing departments of disaster medicine and military medicine for such training. Work on preparing higher medical education institutions for the new program is ongoing.
