At the beginning of October, 225 thousand job offers were posted on the Unified Job Portal. The highest demand is for specialists whose skills are needed in manufacturing, construction, transportation, logistics, and energy. The State Employment Service reports this. The high demand for skilled professions and skills is accompanied by wage growth in several specialties.
Julia Zhovtyak, director of the State Employment Service, spoke about the labor market situation in an interview with MC.today. According to her, employers are increasingly looking for workers rather than the other way around. Meanwhile, candidates who are willing to learn, acquire new skills, and adapt to the needs of the economy have the best chances.
Where the most vacancies are in Ukraine
The largest number of offers is in the trade sector - about 35 thousand, or 16% of the total. In other industries, employers are looking for:
- in industry - about 20 thousand workers;
- in transportation - about 17 thousand;
- in medicine, finance, and auditing - approximately 10 thousand each.
Among workers in the service and trade sectors, sellers, cooks, administrators, and bakers are needed. For skilled labor positions, employers are looking for drivers, locksmiths, assemblers, electricians, seamstresses, and electrical engineers. There are also open vacancies for accountants, engineers, doctors, mechanics, couriers, teachers, and nurses.
According to the employment service, employers are particularly feeling the shortage of skilled personnel. Because of this, competition for vacancies changes in some areas: employers have to actively attract candidates and reconsider working conditions. Data from other market research also reflects how competition for jobs is distributed in Ukraine.
What salaries are offered to in-demand specialists
According to Zhovtyak, the highest salary offers are recorded in professions where there is a lack of workers. In particular, engineers can be offered up to 160 thousand hryvnias per month, drivers - up to 85 thousand, and tractor drivers - up to 80 thousand.
For other specialties, the maximum amounts are lower:
- mechanics - up to 65 thousand hryvnias;
- electricians - up to 60 thousand hryvnias.
In the real estate sector, the average salary is about 43 thousand hryvnias, in human resource management - 42 thousand, and in communications and IT - approximately 35 thousand hryvnias each.
At the same time, the labor market is becoming more inclusive: veterans, people with disabilities, internally displaced persons, and older individuals are increasingly finding work. Government programs and employers are helping to adapt workplaces and support the employment of these groups. At the same time, companies report both a shortage of personnel and difficulties in finding workers in specific areas - such contradiction in the labor market is largely related to the mismatch between candidates' skills and employers' needs.
