A pest has been detected on imported vegetables from Italy in the Lviv region - the western flower thrips. Inspectors discovered contamination during customs clearance of a shipment of salad vegetables. After confirmation by laboratory tests, the entire shipment was destroyed to prevent the spread of the pest within Ukraine.
Phytosanitary measures were taken to prevent the spread of the pest. Fortunately, the contaminated products did not reach the market, so there is no danger to consumers.
