In August 2025, there was a sharp increase in prices for food products produced by domestic enterprises in Ukraine. Wholesale prices for meat and meat products rose by 23.4%, internal prices reacted with an increase of 23.8%, and export prices increased by 12.7%.
Dairy products also became more expensive by 17.7%, with internal prices rising by 18.7% and export prices by 5.8%. Bread and bakery products increased in price by 15.5%, with domestic growth of 15.1% and export growth of 24.2%.
Experts emphasize that the wholesale price increases are gradually being passed on to retail prices in stores, and this process has a time lag of several months. This means that Ukrainian consumers may feel the increase in product prices even more acutely by the end of autumn.
Sugar - an exception
Amid the overall trend of rising prices, sugar stands out, with prices decreasing by 8.8% in August, with a drop in the domestic market of 8.7%. It is also worth noting that record prices for Ukrainian apples even surprised Europeans.
The rise in food prices in Ukraine in August 2025 was quite significant, especially regarding meat, dairy products, and bakery products. Sugar turned out to be an exception, lowering its price, but overall, the trend of rising food prices may shock Ukrainian consumers in the future.
