Power Outages in Ukraine
On January 7, 2023, power outages were recorded in several major cities in Ukraine, including Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, and Kryvyi Rih. Local residents reported significant problems due to the lack of electricity, water supply, and mobile internet. In many areas of Dnipro, people were left without electricity, complicating their daily lives.
Additionally, reports of power outages also came from Pavlohrad and Synelnykove. Kryvyi Rih is experiencing possible severe emergency electricity shutdowns. Zaporizhzhia region is also facing power supply restrictions due to an enemy attack that struck the region. It is important to note that Kryvyi Rih was under Russian strikes on January 7, which could have affected the stability of the electricity supply.
Actions of Local Authorities
Mykola Lukashuk urged residents to stock up on water, especially in Pavlohrad and Synelnykove, as the local enterprise 'DZD' was also de-energized. Oleksandr Vilkul emphasized that all points of resilience in the city are operational, and everything possible will be maintained on generators. Ivan Fedorov noted that specialists from 'Zaporizhzhiaobenergo' are working on restoring and stabilizing the electrical system.
The situation with electricity supply in several cities of Ukraine is the result of not only enemy attacks but also the complex energy infrastructure that has suffered from a prolonged conflict. Power and water outages seriously impact residents' lives, forcing them to adapt to new conditions. The actions of local authorities, particularly the provision of generators and informational support, are important steps to mitigate the consequences of these crises.
